​COVID 19 operating policy for Descanso Bay Regional Park:
  • Social distancing: a minimum of 2 metres (6 feet) between all guests from different households
  • A no-visitor policy is in place
  • Increased sanitation of park facilities
  • Self check in may be in effect. Please refer to your reservation confirmation and posted notices at the office.
  • No-cash  and minimized on site credit card transactions

Campfires: See the Gabriola Fire Department website for up to date information on the burning regulations:

Occupancy: Maximum 4 adults (18 yrs and over) per site and up to 4 children. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Vehicles: Maximum per site: 1 vehicle with a trailer or an RV: or 1 vehicle with up to 2 tents. Extra vehicle charge of $11.50 per night applies.

Check in:  from 1:00pm - 8:00pm 

Check out:  anytime before 11:00am

Quiet Time:   10:00pm - 8:00am

​Generators: May be used between 11:00am and 3:00pm

Music: Noise must be kept to a minimum so as not to disrupt your neighbors. Everyone has the right to quiet enjoyement of the park. 

Smoking and Vaping: Smoking and Vaping of cigarettes, marijuana and other related products is prohibited at all time in all areas of the park. 

Alcohol:  Alcohol is restricted to campsites. Disruptive behavior is not tolerated. 

Pets: Well behaved pets are most welcome in the park but must be on leash. Please pick up after your pets and deposit doggie-do bags into  garbage dumpster.

Garbage and Recycling: Place all garbage in the garbage containers provided. Please keep your campsite clean for the enjoyment of all. Crows and raccoons can become a problem when food and garbage are not properly stored.

Firewood: Firewood can be purchased in the park or you are welcome to bring your own. The park's natural features is protected and burning of underbrush is strictly prohibited.

Campfires: Campfires are permitted in campsite fire rings only. Extinguish fires any time you leave your campsite. Follow seasonal fire restriction signs posted throughout the park.

Toilets: The park has standard pit toilets. Please close the lid after using them and do not throw down doggie-do bags or garbage.

Water: Potable water is available from a tap beside the recycling area. As we are on a well system, please be as conservative as possible to ensure there is enough water for everyone.  Preparing water for your RV before you come would be much appreciated since there is a water shortage on the island. 

Showers?: There are no public showers in the park. Most of our campers swim in the ocean, bring their own camping shower or bucket bath during their stay. 

Sani-dump: There is no sani-dump on the island. If you have a camper or RV it is advised to arrive at the campground with an empty tank.

Ice: available for purchase at the grocery store in the village center. 

Food Storage: Please keep your food stored in sealed containers. Food left out on tables overnight may attract birds or mice.

Animals:  There are an abundance of deer, birds and other small animals. 
Bears and cougars do not have a presence on Gabriola.

Conservation: Park flora and fauna are protected. Please leave the trees, plants, flowers, sea weed and shells as they are: they are not surplus but each performing an important role in the park's ecosystem.

Privacy: Please respect the privacy of other campers and their desire for quiet enjoyment.

Packing up: Please leave your site clean and free of garbage and ready for the next campers to enjoy.
